My Debts
This is where you tell the app what you owe. Every account you add here feeds the snowball plan, the dashboard charts, and your payoff date. The more accurate your entries, the better the plan.
The summary cards
At the top of the page, three cards total up everything you've entered:
| Card | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ๐ธ Total Remaining Debt | The combined current balance of all your active debts. |
| ๐ Total Min Payments / Mo | The sum of every minimum payment you owe each month. |
| โ Total Paid Off | How much you've already eliminated across all accounts. |
Adding a debt
- Click "Add Debt" to open the new-account form.
- Account Name โ name it something you'll recognize, e.g. Chase Sapphire Card.
- Type / Category โ pick a category (credit card, student loan, auto, personal, etc.) or add a custom category of your own.
- Current Balance โ what you owe on this account right now.
- Original Balance โ what it started at. This drives your progress bar and "paid off" totals.
- Minimum Payment โ the smallest amount you must pay each month.
- APR (interest rate %) โ the annual interest rate, e.g. 22.99.
- Due Date โ the day of the month it's due (1โ31), so you never miss a payment.
- Save. The debt drops into your list and is instantly ranked in the snowball plan.
Don't have the exact APR or original balance handy? Enter your best estimate and refine it later โ you can edit any field anytime.
The debt table
Each debt appears as a row with everything at a glance: Account Name, Type, Balance, Original, Min Payment, APR, Due Date, a Progress bar, Status, and Actions. The account name column stays pinned as you scroll sideways, so you never lose track of which row you're reading.
Filtering and sorting
Use the search box to filter by name or type, and the dropdowns to filter by type (All Types, or a specific category) and status (All, Active, or Paid Off). Handy once your list grows.
Pricing a debt (balance, APR & minimums)
"Pricing" just means keeping the money fields accurate so the snowball math is right:
- Balance drives your snowball order โ the smallest balance is always the next target.
- Minimum Payment sets the floor for every account and the base of your snowball.
- APR shows how expensive each debt is to carry (the snowball method ignores APR for ordering, but it's good to see).
- Original Balance powers the progress bar so you can watch each account fill up toward "done."
Managing & updating
- Edit โ click a row's edit action to update the balance after a payment, fix a number, or change the due date.
- Mark Paid Off โ when a balance hits zero, set its status to Paid Off. ๐ The NY coach throws you a celebration, and the account moves out of your active snowball.
- Delete โ remove an account entirely. You'll get a confirmation prompt first, since this can't be undone.
The habit that makes everything work: after you make your payments each month, update each balance here, then record a snapshot in Settings. That's what feeds the "Debt Over Time" chart.
Account limits by plan
The number of debts you can track depends on your plan: Free covers up to 3 accounts, Grinder up to 10, and Boss is unlimited. If you downgrade with more accounts than your plan allows, the extras are hidden โ never deleted โ and come back when you upgrade again. See Billing & Plans.
Add every debt โ even the embarrassing ones. You can't crush what you won't look at. Smallest balance goes down first, then we roll it forward.
